The River Road East Fire was reported on August 18 at 1:30 PM, on the Plains Ranger District of the Lolo National Forest, 6 miles east of Plains, MT.

Evacuations are being issued by Sanders County Sheriff's Office for Paradise, MT and surrounding areas. Follow Sanders County Montana Sheriff's Office Facebook Page for updates and sign up for automated emergency alerts through https://hyper-reach.com/mtsanderssignup.html. 

Highway 200 is closed for public and firefighter safety between Hwy 28 North and HWY 135 South. Winds are currently 30mph+ in the area with steep terrain. Multiple agencies including the Forest Service, Montana Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and other partners are on scene. An Incident Management Team is ordered and will be briefed Saturday, August 19.
