At 4:50 p.m. on Aug. 6, Texas A&M Forest Service received a request for assistance on a fire burning southwest of Godley, Johnson County, Texas. The fire is burning in grass fuels, and is exhibiting moderate to extreme fire behavior, burning actively on both flanks and the head.
Multiple structures are threatened and a voluntary evacuation is in place for CR 1233. Fire managers are requesting law enforcement support to clear boater traffic off of Lake Granbury.
Texas A&M Forest Service has mobilized the following to assist with response efforts: fire managers and miscellaneous overhead, dozers, engine crews from Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS), Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF) personnel and aircraft, including an air attack plane (AA), single engine air tankers (SEATs), a fireboss plane (FB), helicopters and a large airtanker (LAT).
A Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) is in place for the area over the fire, [NOTAM: FDC 3/9140, bit.ly/3OsCM3E]. Please avoid the area to provide a safe environment for firefighting aircraft.
