Lightning caused fire 16 miles northwest of Blanding, Utah on the Monticello Ranger District of the Manti-La Sal National Forest. Fire is burning in steep terrain with ponderosa pine litter and understory with manzanita brush present.

Fuels Involved:
Fire is burning in Ponderosa pine and Manzanita brush. Fuel loading is heavy in this area and resource benefit is expected through low intensity fire. Adjacent fuels are ponderosa pine with mixed brush throughout.

Fire is cleaning up unburned pockets within the interior of the incident.

Planned Outlook

Planned Actions:
Resources will build control lines and identify where natural barriers can be used to manage the fire. Crews and engines will be utilized for line construction, patrol, mop up lines, holding and firing operations.
Projected Incident Activity:
Chance of thunderstorms for the next several days, but coverage will be spotty. As drying conditions persist, fire behavior will gradually increase in the area. The fire behavior is not expected to get above the minimal to moderate level.
