The Skiles 429 Fire is located northeast of Clayton and just west of the Oklahoma border in Union County. The fire is being fueled by extremely dry conditions and strong winds. Fuels include grass and pinon-juniper. The Skiles 429 Fire was first reported just after 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022. Numerous resources are on the scene from the Forestry Division and Union County. The cause is under investigation.
