The fire was first reported on Monday, July 12th at 6 am that was started by a lightning strike approximately 5 miles northwest of Tusayan and 1 mile southwest of the Grand Canyon National Park. The objective is to use existing roads for containment lines and let it progress naturally as well as engage in minimal burning to reduce the dead and down fuels as needed.
