WHAT: Tulare County Downgrading areas of Three Rivers to an Evacuation Warning

WHEN: Effective Immediately

WHERE: Areas downgraded include:

VISALIA, CA – Sheriff Boudreaux has downgraded the Evacuation Order to an

Evacuation Warning for parts of the community of Three Rivers as of 1:00 p.m. today.

An Evacuation Warning means individuals living in the area are able to return to their

homes, but should still be ready to evacuate should fire conditions change due to SQF

Complex fire activity.

Areas downgraded include:

Areas of Cherokee Oaks

Old Three Rivers Road

Portions of South Fork Drive, north of Conley Bridge (just south of Heidi

Drive), including South Forks Estates.

NOTES: All remaining Evacuation Orders and Evacuation Warnings remain in place.

The Sequoia Complex is under the Unified Command between the United States

Forest Service, Northern Rockies Incident Management Team 1, CAL FIRE and

National Park Service. CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 6 is in command of the

west zone of the fire. The western flank continues to be the top priority and is still

exhibiting active fire behavior. Fire activity continues to be moderated by the dense

smoke and inversion layer. Mid-range spotting is developing from dead standing

beetle kill, and the abundance of fuels on the forest floor. Rollout on steep slopes is

promoting slow fire advance. Dead standing beetle kill timber is creating single and

group tree torching as the inversion lifts. Heavy dead and down fuels on the steep

slopes aids fire spread into the inaccessible drainages and terrain. Fire continues to

back down Dennison Mountain to the northeast. Firing operations in the northwest,

from Grouse Valley to the South Fork community was completed. Sequoia National

Park and Kings Canyon National Park are both closed. The Mineral King Road is

closed from Oak Grove Drive to Mineral King. Damage inspections team’s area in the

area continue to assess the areas affected.
