May 24- Fire 85% contained and approximately 29 acres, firecrews in mop up today.

May 23-Fire at 32 acres, crews securing fire line and beginning mop up.

The Maverick Fire began the afternoon of May 22, east of Willcox and southwest of Bowie in the Dos Cabezas mountains. Smoke is likely visible from Interstate 10 and both communities. The fire is approximately 32-acres at this time.

Fire resources from the BLM, including the Aravaipa Veterans Interagency Hotshot Crew, U.S. Forest Service and three engines and fire use module out of Tucson. Single Engine Air Tankers (SEATs) will continue to fly and drop retardant and fire crews will continue to improve the fire lines and prepare for windy conditions this afternoon. Another hotshot crew will come in later today to assist.
