Fire Growth Potential
Updated: 1 day, 12 hours ago — 10/05/18 UPDATE: Due to the scattered, soaking rain showers the area has received throughout the week, the Riggs and Lonely fires have experienced no growth since Monday. The possibility of additional rain and snow showers and high relative humidities in the short-term forecast will continue to thwart any fire growth and smoke production. Fire behavior was observed as minimal with some smoldering and creeping. There have been no injuries to firefighters or public reported at this time which achieves our first and highest goal in wildfire management.Smoke was very light over the last two days and will likely remain that way going forward. Communities in the area will not experience any visible smoke, but may smell smoke periodically. All visitor facilities, services, and businesses in surrounding communities are not impacted by the fire and remain open. The Riggs fire and the Lonely Fire are on lands administered by the Dixie National Forest, Bryce Canyon National Park, and Kanab Field...
