Updated: 2 hours, 39 mins ago — The Gance Fire is holding at 5,363 acres and is now 75% contained. The Nevada Type 3 Team 4 Britt is transitioning the wildfire back to the Mountain City-Ruby Mountains-Jarbidge Ranger District on Saturday and Forest staff will continue to patrol and monitor the fire. Smoldering vegetation may remain within the fire perimeter. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Approximately 179 personnel remain working on the fire from agencies including Bureau of Indian Affairs, Bureau of Land Management, Elko County, Forest Service, and Nevada Division of Forestry. Resources on the fire include: five hand crews, 23 engines, two helicopters, two bulldozers, two water tenders, and one Very Large Air Tanker (VLAT).
