Updated: 5 hours, 45 mins ago — The Jennie’s Peak Fire started on August 17, 2018 after lightning passed through the area. The fire is located 14 miles south of Fossil, OR and is burning on BLM and private lands. Public and firefighter safety is the primary objective. Evacuations of campgrounds and residences along the John Day River are in place. Northwest Incident Management Team 7 has been delegated the authority by Bureau of Land Management, Prineville District and Oregon Department of Forestry to manage the Jennie’s Peak Fire.
