Incident Overview

Updated: 2 days ago — Silver Creek area closure rescinded; Silver Creek Fire updates October 19, 2018 – As of Wednesday, Oct. 24, the Silver Creek Fire area closure has been rescinded. There are no longer closures for this area. The public may access and use the fire area, however, the fire may still be smoldering. It is not expected to be declared controlled until there is a season-ending snow event. Season-ending can be defined as significant snow expected to remain on the ground for the season. Caution is urged in burned areas, as trees may have been weakened by the fire and could easily fall. The burn area will have many ‘snags,’ or standing dead trees that are fire weakened and highly unstable, especially in high winds. Forest staff will continue to monitor the fire area as it remains in patrol status. Despite snow at higher elevations and cooler overall temperatures, National Forest visitors and particularly hunters, are advised to use caution when building and maintaining campfires. ...
